[b]Columbia 10th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony[/b] On Friday, February 1, 2013 the Astronauts Memorial Foundation (AMF) will conduct a ceremony on the 10th anniversary of the Columbia tragedy. During the ceremony, we will honor the crew of Columbia as well as all the astronauts who have sacrificed their lives for the nation and the space program. The ceremony will take place at the Space Mirror Memorial at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at 10:00 a.m. Evelyn Husband-Thompson, the widow of Commander Rick Husband, will be our keynote speaker. Former astronauts Eileen Collins and Jon McBride will speak at the ceremony as well as Robert Lightfoot, NASA Associate Administrator; Bob Cabana, Kennedy Space Center Director; and Bill Gerstenmaier, NASA Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations. The ceremony will conclude at approximately 11:15 a.m. The general public is invited to the ceremony at the Space Mirror Memorial. The ceremony is free of charge. Please let the parking attendant know that you are attending the ceremony and will be leaving immediately afterwards. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will provide flowers for visitors in the morning to place at the memorial. For more information, please call 321-449-4400. The Astronauts Memorial Foundation, a private, not-for-profit organization, built and maintains the Space Mirror Memorial. It was dedicated in 1991 to honor all astronauts who lost their lives on missions or during training and since has been designated a National Memorial by Congress.
